Monster under my Bed

There’s a monster under my bed
People don’t believe me
People say it’s in my head
So there I was at 12 years old
Learnt to do whatever I was told
Each morning came, each evening went
But as each night progressed
I was equally cursed and blessed
I would sin and then I would repent
There’s a monster under my bed
People don’t believe me
People say it’s in my head
Oh mercy me
If only they could see
The monster under my bed that’s waiting for me
Waiting for me
It's like I haven’t slept in years
And I am not who I appear
Still so young, confused but learning
The thrill that’s in the dark
Faster goes the heart
The candle drips with both ends burning
There’s a monster under my bed
People don’t believe me
People say it’s in my head
Oh mercy me
If only they could see
The monster under my bed that’s waiting for me
Waiting for me
There’s a monster under my bed
There’s a monster under my bed
There’s a monster, monster under my bed
There’s a monster, monster under my bed
There’s a monster under my bed
Mother Mary say a prayer
For the soul of one who’s scared
I’ve tried to kill that monster dead
But when the lights go out
It leaves me in no doubt
I’ll greet the monster under my bed
There’s a monster under my bed
People don’t believe me
People say it’s in my head
Oh mercy me
If only they could see
The monster under my bed that’s waiting for me
Waiting for me
There’s a monster under my bed
There’s a monster under my bed
There’s a monster, monster under my bed
There’s a monster, monster under my bed
There’s a monster under my bed

I feel disconnected, feel I’m out of touch
Everything’s as expected so nothing matters all that much
No smile in a mirror can disguise the truth
Every line is a witness to the passing of my youth
With every hour
Wishing I had the power
To bring this to an end
When the east wind blows and the cold it flows
Icy river running through my soul
Then I catch my breath and I catch my death
As it rolls on in, on the east wind
On the east wind
Coffee cup on the table beside your empty chair
You went long before me but I still see you sitting there
We have conversations, we argue and we fuss
Isn’t that what lovers do, isn’t that what’s special to us
I love and miss you
Hug and kiss you
I know you love me too
When the east wind blows and the cold it flows
Icy river running through my soul
Then I catch my breath and I catch my death
As it rolls on in, on the east wind
On the east wind
Here I stand
Head in hands
Eyes too old to be weeping
Here I am
This tired man
Heart too old to be beating
And I feel it coming
Yeah I hope it’s coming
To carry me away
When the east wind blows and the cold it flows
Icy river running through my soul
Then I catch my breath and I catch my death
As it rolls on in, on the east wind
On the east wind
The east wind
The east wind
The east wind

After the Flood

Soaked through but smiling now
I wonder if the rain somehow
Has washed away the past
Now we’re free at last
Maybe we should just stay wet
And see how far we get
Until the final drip
Someone lets it slip
That all we gotta do is let it rip
After the flood (after the flood)
After the flood (after the flood)
After the flood (after the flood)
After the flood (after the flood)
After the flood has washed away
The bitter taste of the day
After the flood
After the flood
We just survived our biggest storm
By going under to be reborn
And when we raised our heads
The sun was there instead
And now it shines like the star it is
And now we live, just not exist
I give thanks for every breath
‘Cos we came so near to death
It’s good to know we still have so much left
After the flood (after the flood)
After the flood (after the flood)
After the flood (after the flood)
After the flood (after the flood)
After the flood has washed away
The bitter taste of the day
After the flood
After the flood
After the flood (after the flood)
After the flood (after the flood)
After the flood (after the flood)
After the flood (after the flood)
After the flood has washed away
The bitter taste of the day
After the flood
After the flood
Oh after the flood (after the flood)
After the flood (after the flood)
Oh after the flood (after the flood)
After the flood (after the flood)
After the flood has washed away
The bitter taste of the day
After the flood
After the flood
After the flood
After the flood
